ANCIENT DECORATED AGATE 10 BANDED MEDICINE DZI EYE BEAD circa 1000 BC – 300 BC. Circa 2300 – 3000 years old + or. A highly collectible good size barrel shaped decorated agate bead with ten stripes and a ground eye. At some point in its distant past the eye space would have contained ground turquoise and or orange coral set with tar. The weathering is commensurate with its great age and their is excessive age wear to each side of the bead holes and the bead edges. The edges of the agate bead worn from rubbing against other agates on a necklace This is an extremely well worn heirloom bead 2300 – 3000 years old. This is a powerful bead and would have been a centre bead on a necklace. For use in traditional medicine, as was the belief of the Tibetan people. It was believed that this type of bead had the power to bring healing to those afflicted and was used in traditional medicine for healing all ailments. This is a very ancient authentic decorated Dzi eye bead and would be a top bead in any collection. At a great price but f. Eel free to make reasonable offers. This ancient A gate bead displays amazing dark b rown Black and decorated white banding and is known as healing/cure Dzi eye bead. This lovely looking Agate eye bead displays excellent patina and wear commensurate with age and cultural belief. It has 10 white decorated bands on the black/brown agate and would have been selected for its aesthetic beauty and power. It would have been an heirloom bead passed down from one generation to another. The bead has a hole running through both holes and sides are. Worn from ancient use which is normal in a bead of this age. It measures 5.5 cm long and 1.52 cm in diameter, bead holes 7mm + approximately. In good collectable condition. Condition: Mostly Very Good. A robust bead with minor. Weathering and superficial surface fissures, excessive wear to bead sides and holes. Collected in the 1970’s.
